“It’s really cheap and I have a budget of $2 million.”

Move over The Kardashians and The Real Housewives, a Canadian reality television web series called Ultra Rich Asian Girls is taking over.

The show is broadcasted in Mandarin and English featuring the daughters of the most affluent Chinese Canadians living in Vancouver, Canada. Ultra Rich Asian Girls is in its third season following different women and has been filmed worldwide from Venice, Milan, Los Angeles, and Vancouver.

The shows offer a new perspective on the lives of the wealthy Asian women as they shop, dine, and party.

The producer of HBICTV was born and raised in Vancouver’s working class. Over the years he noticed a massive flow of affluent immigrants moving to Canada. Kevin Li wanted to get a glimpse into the daily life of the rich Mandarin-speaking girls. The show is meant to reflect the new economic demographic now living outside of China.

Locals in Vancouver blame the massive influx of the rich Chinese foreigners moving in recent years causing the real estate prices to skyrocket. Andy Yan, acting director of Simon Fraser University’s City Program said, “Residential real estate in Vancouver and more specifically certain parts of Vancouver are becoming hedges against political, economic, and social instability from other parts of the world.”
