Many people are now mourning the loss of a well-loved actor. Anton Yelchin was an up-and-coming actor known for the roles he played in “Alpha Dog” and “Star Dog.” Unfortunately, the 27-year-old met an early and unexpected demise last Sunday morning. According to multiple sources, Yelchin passed away from sustained injuries during a freak injury at home involving his vehicle.
Friends became alarmed when Yelchin failed to show up hours earlier for a rehearsal. After attempting to contact him via phone calls and texts, the friends went to his home in San Fernando Valley at about 1 AM. They found Yelchin pinned between a brick mailbox pillar, which was attached to the security gate, and his car.
According to law enforcement, the engine was running when Yelchin’s body was discovered. Law enforcement found the car in neutral. They noted that the driveway had a steep incline. As of now, the police officers are unsure why Yelchin got out of his car in the first place.
Law enforcement does not believe foul play was involved.
In a statement to PEOPLE, Yelchin’s representative said, “His family requests you respect their privacy at this time.” Many celebrities and fans alike have offered their condolences to close friends and family members for their loss.
Recently, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office affirmed that the body of Yelchin indeed was found pinned between the gate of his home and his car. The coroner is in the process of completing an autopsy, so no cause of death has been declared. However, head and chest injuries were noted in the preliminary results.
